Jasikevicius: “CSKA is always in the ‘Final Four’ and is the role model”

On the loss to Valencia: “Some players are embarrassed watching videos and so am I”

BARCELONA, 16 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça coach Sarunas Jasikevicius has acknowledged that he would like to always be in the ‘Final Four’ of the Euroleague and follow the example of his rival this Wednesday at the Palau Blaugrana, a CSKA Moscow who flattered and whose strength highlighted physical and solidity of the project.

“I never like to comment on other teams but being in ‘Final Four’ like 18 or 19 times out of 20, like them, is something historical and it is a tremendous fact, to take off your hat. It is the role model, we have to try to be this type of team, “he said at a press conference.

He expects a “tough and difficult” match against some Russians who he described as a “very first level” team. “He has been there for years and years with his project, which is very consolidated. We want to be there year after year, like them,” he reiterated.

“They have had injuries but their game is still very physical and fierce and with clear ideas. But they have had bad luck with injuries. And they will be at the same level as always, I have no doubt about it,” he predicted for the present. and the immediate future of CSKA, right now ninth with a 5-4 balance.

On the other hand, the Blaugrana coach once again acknowledged that they made too many mistakes in the defeat against Valencia Basket, the first in the Endesa League, and wants more consistency in the team’s game. “I am not going to lie here, neither to the media nor to the people who listen to us. We have to keep improving, it is a problem we have and we talk about a lot,” he acknowledged.

“We have to keep working, be even more professional and more consistent. In most of the games we are there. But we still have a lot to improve to be consistent and not have nights like Valencia,” he appealed.

In this sense, he revealed that in the dressing room there are those who feel ashamed of what happened. “We are improving and we are going to continue improving, the boys are aware that this is happening and some have said that they are ashamed watching Sunday’s videos. Me too, because it is my team, and it is what there is,” he lamented.
