Januzaj recovers in time to receive Atlético

Adnan Januzaj signs up for the match against Atlético de Madrid. The presence of the Belgian winger has been the main novelty of today’s session in Zubieta, before the rest day given by Imanol Alguacil to his squad this Saturday. On Sunday they will resume training specifically to prepare for the Copa del Rey match, because they won’t stop until they play on Wednesday night at the Reale Arena, the day before San Sebastián, the most important festive day in the capital of Gipuzkoa.

The Belgian player has recovered in time to be able to play the match against Atlético de Madrid, something that was not certain after Wednesday it was announced that he was not fit to train with all his teammates. Januzaj has returned to group work because “it has been a week since he had symptoms”, according to sources consulted by the Royal Society. From the San Sebastian club, the cases of players who test positive for coronavirus are no longer confirmed. Nor have they done so on this occasion with Januzaj, which would be the second time that the disease would have passed. Be that as it may, the Belgian is recovered, he has trained normally this Friday, so on Sunday he will be back with the group and will be able to play against Atlético de Madrid next Wednesday.

From now on, Imanol Alguacil will be aware of the rest of the players who are touched for one reason or another. Because Rafael Alcántara was also absent this week from training in Zubieta. In the case of the Brazilian, it is not known when he will be able to return to group work after having supposedly overcome the coronavirus. In theory, he would be able to reach the match against Atlético, but too short of time. Januzaj has already passed the mandatory seven days to isolate himself at home, and Rafinha would theoretically complete them on Sunday, so on Thursday he could play, although how he is physically is another matter. Another unknown is Alexander Isak, but in his case it is due to the muscle injury he suffered against Celta de Vigo. In any case, it will arrive very just in time, although it is not ruled out. The other injured, Carlos Fernández, Monreal and Barrenetxea, are confirmed casualties for that great Cup game.
