Jane Fonda never believed that she would age: “I assumed that she would not exceed 30, and I am 85 years old”

The actress has spoken at length about her age in the latest episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy to promote his new movie, 80 for Brady. In the audio, Jane reflects: “It’s so hard being young. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You think ‘What am I supposed to do? Who am I supposed to meet? Who should I become?'” asked the star.

With age, according to Fonda, answers are found, but after many uncertainties: “Most of the difficulties that I have suffered in my life occurred in the early years. I had a very bad time with bulimia. I led a life in secret I was very, very unhappy. I took it for granted that I would not live beyond 30. I am 85 years old,” she said proudly.

In the transcription of the podcast made by the magazine Vanity Fairthe North American activist assures that she has always played the strong one: “Most of the difficulties that I have suffered in my life occurred in the early years, and when I was young I never asked for help. I considered it a great weakness. You know, I wanted to be like a guy. You know, that ‘I don’t need anyone’ thing. Before (and I mean when I was 30, 40, 50 or 60 years old), the sign of maturity was independence, the ‘I’m older’ , I do not need anyone'”.

Fonda has explained that interdependence was not recognized then, that it was true in the case of men and that was part of the culture, “but that began to change. So my change also had to do with a broader social change , something that I’m afraid is going back to the way it used to be. You know, I mean that strong individualism, the idea of ​​’I’m going to think only about myself and my family.’ And this is precisely the moment when we have to understand more that we have to work together and that we depend on each other”, he declared to demonstrate his social commitment.

The daughter of Henry Fonda, the award-winning actor of classic Hollywood, now feels almost invincible. He is dealing with cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and when he went public he assured his fans that he felt great and was overcoming it by working out. The outpourings of support and testimonials he received from people who had suffered and overcome it, and were living several decades after the cure, encouraged him to affirm with that particular positive style of his that “well, I’m 85 years old, so I don’t have to worry about lasting ‘many decades’. One is enough for me,” he says.
