James introduced: “I'm looking forward to playing at my best”

James Rodríguez warned in his first press conference as an Everton player that winning trophies with the team is not something that will happen overnight and that it is a “long-term” plan.

“I see many signs of progress,” said the Colombian footballer, who arrived at Everton this week from Real Madrid.

James, after having gone through the French, Spanish and German leagues, pointed out that he is ready for the Premier League, his next challenge.

“I have always said it, football is the same wherever you go. I know the English league is known to be tough, fast-paced, but I'm prepared to fall on my feet, ”said the Colombian.

“The training sessions have gone very well. I have already been in four sessions and I have seen a lot of quality. We are focused on getting what we need with this team. I think the future is very promising, “he added.

In addition, James spoke of the influence that Carlo Ancelotti, his now coach, has had on his career, after having coincided with him at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

“It is very good to have the opportunity to work with him again. There is a very good relationship with him. I have arrived at a club with a great history and I am looking forward to playing at my best level ”, he pointed out.

Ancelotti highlights its quality

Carlo Ancelotti, Everton coach, insisted at a press conference that James Rodríguez, his brand new signing, has “a lot of quality” and is going to show it in the Premier League.

Ancelotti knows James well and has already coincided with him at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, when the Colombian was on loan to the Munich club.

“I hope he shows his quality, because he has a lot and I'm sure he will do it in the Premier League,” said the Italian coach at the press conference prior to the start of the competition.

With the reinforcements that Everton has done this summer, which has also taken on the services of Allan, from Naples, and Abdoulaye Doucouré, from Watford, they hope to compete with the big English clubs this season.

“We want to fight for fourth position in the league and reach Europe. We have that ambition and I think we can achieve it ”, predicted Ancelotti.
