“Letizia and me“, the journalist's book Jaime Penafiel which everyone talks about, has barely had any echo in the Spanish press and hardly any reviews in the usual Books sections of the important newspapers. Nor has the veteran chronicler of matters related to blue-blooded protagonists spent time on television or radio programs to talk about his book. Despite everything, the book has been sold out in bookstores and the Almuzara publishing house is already preparing its second edition, even though the work has been pirated and distributed in PDF by WhatsApp groups on a massive scale.
Outside of Spain, Peñafiel's story and the book have occupied, with a photo of Mrs. Letiziathe cover of The Times of London, as well as other media such as Daily Telegraph, also British, and its author has been interviewed in the Swedish and Australian press. In Spain there have been comments from some columnists considering that Letizia is a victim of the author's machismo and a feminist attacked for being a woman. Beyond the credibility of what the book contains, the book talks about the story of Jaime del Burgo, former brother-in-law of the current Queen of Spain. The man who was Telma Ortiz's husband reveals in the pages of the work that Peñafiel signs the alleged relationship that according to him he had with Letizia Ortiz, before and after her wedding to Philip of Bourbon.
The Navarrese lawyer, son of the first Foral president, after breaking off the alleged romance with the current consort, married his sister Telma Ortizat a wedding attended by Felipe de Birbón and Letizia herself on the Amalfi coast.
Jaime del Burgo reacted to the citrus with some messages on his social networks, not only confirming his statements, but also ensuring that he could still say much more and that he keeps documents, photos and videos of that supposed relationship, in a bank, safe from any attempted theft. According to del Burgo, his house in Geneva has already been attacked by unknown people looking for this documentation.
For its part, the Almuzara publishing house, headed by the Minister of Aznar Manuel Pimentelassures Informalia that has not received complaints or pressure from the Royal House or Letizia's entourage. “When it comes to publishing a book, and we release about 30 a month in our different publishing labels, we do not take into account whether or not there will be pressure or if the subject of the book will be handled by the political parties for their benefit,” they say. “Our limit is always the rule of law and we respect that the media want or not to echo our publications, it is their sovereign decision. We should not think about that.”
Likewise, Jaime Peñafiel affirms that he has only published a minimal part of what he knows and has heard from Jaime del Burgo: “I am worth more for what I keep quiet than for what I tell,” he says laconically.
