Izan Guevara has no rival in Alcañiz and escapes in the leadership of Moto3

MADRID, 18 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Izan Guevara (GasGas) won a spectacular victory this Sunday in the Moto3 race of the Aragón Grand Prix, the fifteenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, dominating from start to finish, to consolidate his leadership of the category ahead of his teammate and main rival for the championship, Sergio García Dols (GasGas), who could only finish thirteenth.

The man from Palma executed a perfect race from light to flag, without errors and always in the lead, to cross the finish line ahead of Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) and also Spanish Dani Holgado (KTM), who started alongside him in first row and who also did not miss their starting positions, finishing second and third respectively. The man from Alicante thus achieved the first podium of his career.

Now, Guevara, after the fourth victory of the year and the fifth of his life, leads the general standings with 229 points, 33 more than García Dols and 58 more than the Italian Dennis Foggia (Honda), who finished fourteenth just behind the man from Castellón. “It was a very important race for me and for the team. MotorLand is my home,” he said after the victory.

Guevara defended his privileged position once the lights went out and tried to escape, but Sasaki and Holgado stuck to his wheel. Behind him, the Spaniard’s teammate and his main rival for the championship, Sergio García Dols (GasGas), managed to climb four positions to eighth in just one lap.

The one from Burriana managed to join the chasing group, where the Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM), the Japanese Tatsuki Suzuki (Honda) and Iván Ortolá (KTM) marched, with ten laps to go, although the leading trio had already achieved distance more than five seconds. Almost ten seconds ahead, the three drivers crossed the finish line without exchanging their positions.

Regarding the rest of the Spanish riders, Adrián Fernández (KTM) finished fifth, leading the Spanish ‘train’ made up of Iván Ortolá (KTM), David Muñoz (KTM), Jaume Masià (KTM) and Carlos Tatay (CFMoto). In addition, Xavi Artigas (CFMoto) finished eleventh and Ana Carrasco (KTM) and María Herrera (KTM) twenty-fifth and twenty-seventh, respectively.
