Iván Ortolá signs victory 700 for Spain

MADRID, 30 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Iván Ortolá (KTM) has signed the victory, second in a row, in the Moto3 race of the Spanish Grand Prix, fourth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, after coming out on top on the last lap in Jerez, where he commanded a podium that closed the Colombian David Alonso (GasGas) and the also Spanish Jaume Masià (Honda).

The Valencian, who already won the last Grand Prix of the Americas, waited for the last lap to rise to the lead of the race and win his second consecutive victory and Spain’s number 700 in the World Championship.

Alonso, born in Madrid but who competes under the Colombian flag, and Masià, who led the last lap, completed the podium at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto, where Dani Holgado (KTM) finished sixth to maintain the leadership of the displacement small.

Once the lights went out, Holgado took the lead over his rivals to move from seventh place to the lead, beating Saturday’s polesitter, Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM).

Iván Ortolá (KTM), who started second, and Jaume Masià (Honda), who started the race fifth, got hooked on the wheel of the man from Alicante, frustrating his escape. It was on the eighth lap when the man from Algemesí took control, while Xavi Artigas (CFMoto) momentarily displaced Ortolá from third position.

Holgado regained first place two laps later and Masià took over with seven laps to go. The Valencian retained the privileged position until the last lap, when Alonso overtook him before Ortolá delivered the final blow.

Among the rest of the Spaniards, José Antonio Rueda (KTM) finished fifth, ahead of Holgado and Artigas, while David Almansa (Husqvarna) was twentieth and Ana Carrasco (KTM), twenty-second. Neither David Muñoz (KTM) nor David Salvador (KTM) managed to finish.
