Italy approves anti-Super League rule

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) approved this Monday, after the Federal Council meeting, a change in your code of rules that prevents clubs from participating in organizations not recognized by FIFA, UEFA and FIGC itself, to avoid the risk of launching projects such as the Super league European.

“To enter the national championship, eThe club undertakes not to participate in competitions organized by private associations not recognized by FIFA, UEFA and FIGC“is the new rule approved by the Federal Council, according to the Italian media.

“Participation in these unacknowledged private competitions will cause the membership closure“, adds the new version of article 16 of the so-called Federal Internal Organizational Norms (NOIF).

The decision was made by federal councilors meeting at 11.00 local time on Monday (9.00 GMT) in a video meeting.

This measure plans to protect the FIGC after the major controversial last week, when twelve of the most important clubs in Europe, including Juventus Turin, Milan and Inter Milan, launched the project of the Super league European, a private competition not recognized by FIFA, UEFA or FIGC.

This project has been, at least momentarily, abandoned after, less than three days after its launch, nine clubs announced their resignation, seeing very negative reactions from the sports and political world.

In Italy, Inter and Milan announced their intention to leave, while Juventus have not yet officially confirmed that will.
