Italy and Germany lead the classification to obtain two places for the next Champions League

MADRID, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Italy and Germany are the two countries that would currently have a fifth place for the next edition of the Champions League, which will debut its new format and which grants two tickets to the two federations whose teams perform best in European competition in this 2023 season. 2024.

For now, Serie A could take the fifth-place team to the top competition thanks to the fact that it leads this 'European Performance' classification with 14,714 points on average thanks to the fact that it maintains its seven teams (Inter, Naples, Lazio, Milan, Rome, Atalanta and Fiorentina), ahead of the Bundesliga (13,928) which has lost one (Union Berlin) and maintains six (Bayern, Dortmund, Leipzig, Bayer, Freiburg and Eintracht). Currently, the surprising Bologna and RB Leipzig will be the holders of that extra ticket.

Behind them are England (13,875), which has lost two of its eight participating clubs, and Spain (12,937), which has also seen two (Osasuna and Sevilla) of its eight teams eliminated and will need to perform well with the six that remain (Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad in the Champions League, Villarreal in the Europa League and Betis in the Conference League) to aspire to that extra place.
