Italian Thomas Ceccon breaks the 100m backstroke world record

MADRID, 20 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon became one of the great protagonists of the third day of the World Swimming Championships that are being held in Budapest by breaking the world record for the 100 meter backstroke.

Ceccon took gold in the distance final with a sensational time of 51.60, shaving 25 hundredths off the previous mark held by American Ryan Murphy since the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
