“It has seen a great playoff game”

After ensuring the pass to the great league final, the Barça coach Jesus Velasco praised the level of Albali Vineyard Valdepeñas in the semifinal and highlighted his great fight until the final whistle, although he regretted having to suffer to secure the ticket to the final.

“We had talked that Valdepeñas would not come here on an excursion, that they would come to try to reach a final. On paper we are above them, we managed to win there and we played at home with our fans. We had everything in our favour, but it is a team that is competitive and has a lot of people who support it. They believed until the end that they could beat us. That honors them and I want to thank them for that. It has been a great playoff game,” he said. Velascowho wanted to avoid talking about the arbitration controversy over the expulsion of Ortiz and asked his players for more consistency so as not to suffer so much.

“We have been at times, as happened to us in the quarterfinals. There are moments when we are very good, very connected, in which we put intensity and are dynamic, but there are others in which they dominate us or we leave the initiative to the rival. We are an offensive team and then we suffer. That is the biggest problem we have, apart from the physical and mental fatigue of having played so many games. It is not an excuse, we have to try to win and have a little more continuity in our game”, he pointed out. Velascowhich then deepened the critics receive referees.

“If you are worried about what the referees are calling, you cannot be aware of your work. I demand that the players focus on what they have to do, on what they can help the team. They have to avoid everything that is foreign to the game and I try to be an example. I respect a lot the work of the referees. They are wrong, but so are we. It is a very complicated job and there will always be someone who is angry about your decisions. I feel terrible when I see that they are wrong, like everyone else, but I have to take care of myself. We gain nothing by going to controversy. I always think of good faith,” he said. Velascowho also rated Sergio González as “a great player” with a view to his possible signing by the Barça the next course.
