Isidre Esteve: “We wanted the dunes to arrive, it is where we are most competitive”

MADRID, 10 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Isidre Esteve (Repsol Rally Team) finished with “good feelings” the sixth stage of the Dakar Rally this Friday, with the arrival of the dunes to demonstrate a competitive pace that allows them to get “happy” to the rest day.

“The team has worked very hard during the night to leave the car impeccable. The oil leak was due to the accident and, fortunately, the engine was not damaged,” he said in statements provided by his team.

Isidre Esteve and his co-pilot Txema Villalobos performed at a high level with their BV6 in the Saudi arena, for 830 kilometers, with a timed 477, after a night of repairs in the team after the rugged previous day.

“The sensations have been very good and we have shot at a very high pace throughout the day. At the beginning, as we were leaving behind 100 participants, including cars, buggies and trucks, we suffered a little from the dust. But when we reached the sand zone we have been able to open gas, roll faster and overtake many people, “he said.

“Txema has been great again in navigation and has been able to interpret the roadbook perfectly, which they have given us again a quarter of an hour before leaving. We were already looking forward to the arrival of the dunes because it is where we are most competitive. We had fun much in a very beautiful stage that, at times, reminded me of Mauritania, “added the ilerdense.

The Repsol Rally Team rider marches 33rd position in the provisional general of cars, while in its category of T1.2, reserved for the modified 4×4 diesel, occupies the sixth place. “Today we have gone fast, we have enjoyed and we have not had any problems, so we reached the rest stage very happy,” he said.

“We are optimistic because there is still a very attractive and sandy arena ahead of us for a week, which is where we are better. We finish the first half of this Dakar very hopeful, since, with more days like today, we will surely recover positions in the general, “he finished.
