MADRID, 4 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Spanish midfielder Isco Alarcón will undergo a new operation on the fibula of his left leg, Real Betis Balompié announced on Wednesday in a statement explaining that in the latest control tests carried out on the player, “a lack of consolidation in the fracture callus and the formation of solid bone bridges” have been detected.
The midfielder suffered a diaphyseal fracture in his left fibula in an EA Sports League match played on April 16 in Las Palmas, which prevented him from playing in the European Championship, and has not allowed him to train with the Betis team so far.
The decision to undergo another surgical intervention was taken in view of “the risk of a complete consolidation deficit in the coming months,” according to the statement from Betis, which also indicates that it has carried out an assessment with the club’s medical services in conjunction with other external specialists with experience in this type of process.
The injury happened to the Malaga native at one of his best moments in recent years after scoring 9 goals and providing 7 assists in 36 games with the team managed by Manuel Pellegrini, where he seemed to have recovered his best form. Now, this serious injury has left him out of action for five months, and there is no estimated time for him to return to the pitch.
