“Is it true about Barça, can we talk tomorrow?”

Since last August 5, the world of sport has been aware of the future of Leo Messi. That Thursday, Barcelona announced that the Argentine's continuity was not going to take place due to economic issues that were already well explained. From that day until Tuesday, August 10, Messi finds himself in a situation never before experienced and with his future in the air.

But a first life preserver was launched the same Thursday night. The managers of Paris Saint Germain, like many others, did not fully believe that there would not be a going back and they suspected of a last minute agreement between Barça and LaLiga. Therefore, Leonardo sends a message to Jorge Messi, Leo's father and agent. “Is it true about Barça, can we talk tomorrow?” That was the best option after the pressure exerted by the owners of PSG from Qatar and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi himself. “You have to bring Messi yes, or yes,” they warned as soon as the bomb exploded.

That's where it all started. From Friday to Tuesday there are two stages. The first, more cautious, runs from Friday to Sunday. The Parisian team begins to touch one of the thorniest parts: duration of the contract. Messi and his people listen to polls that go from two years to what ended, two years plus one optional.

Once the ideas take shape, PSG presents a formal offer. It was on Sunday around 1:00 p.m., just at the moment when Leo Messi, heartbroken, said goodbye to Barcelona after 21 years. His father, who did not attend the crack farewell, he stayed studying the offer.

Sources close to the negotiation assure that that first offer was already acceptable. A flexible proposal in which Messi could propose, he showed the will of PSG for reaching a good agreement. That generated a lot of confidence in the player despite receiving the calls from two other clubs those days.

The other stage of the negotiations was already frantic. From Sunday night to Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. (the time the agreement was reached) it was a non-stop swapping of drafts. Lawyers for both parties returned papers with corrections every three hours. That caused the negotiations to come to a halt on Sunday around 3:00. And on Monday, very early, everything started again until 4:30 in the morning.

What happened next is known. Jorge called Leo around 12:30 to tell him that there was an agreement and that you had to go to Paris. Jorge flew first and Leo took the private plane as soon as he reported the news to his wife and children.
