Day two at the Venice International Film Festival. Stars continue to sail along the Lido and the canals. The ever-brilliant Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie and Úrsula Corberó lead the report for Thursday, August 29.
We open with the diva Angelina Jolie. More diva than ever with her role as the opera lady Maria Callas. The actress, who arrived in the city of canals on Wednesday, chose a long, transparent brown dress with a V-neck and a diamond-shaped honeycomb to create the design. A light gauze allowed her silhouette to be seen. Jolie, who did not coincide (nor will she coincide with her ex, Brad Pitt, at the Mostra) presented Mariathe film by Pablo Larraín that is competing for the Golden Lion. It is the story of Maria Callas in the skin of the American who relives the last days of the Greek soprano in her home in Paris. With this film, whose rights have been acquired by Netflix, Larraín closes his trilogy of women who had it all. They had love, success and beauty, but they were broken. Along with Callas, Jackie (2016) about Jackie Kennedy; and Spencer (2021) by Diana, Princess of Wales.
We continue with Cate Blanchett. The great actress has put on a black velvet dress with a low back neckline and a maxi pearl necklace detail. A delightful portrait that she has given to photographers. Blanchett has put herself at the orders of the Mexican Alfonso Cuarón in his series ‘Disclaimer’ (Observed). The fiction, which will arrive on the Apple TV+ platform on October 11, is inspired by the novel of the same name by Renée Knight. Cate plays a renowned journalist who denounces social injustices in her chronicles. This production is presented in the Out of Competition section.
With enormous theatricality, Úrsula Corberó has posed like a Hollywood superstar. The actress from Barcelona has arrived at the photocall with a super feminine vintage look with details of XL bows and a fur collar. With a style and makeup from the Roaring Twenties of the last century, Corberó has conquered Venice. She presents the film The Jockeyby Luis Ortega.
