The Spanish ‘Rider’ Irati Idiakez conquered two medals, a gold in snowboardcross and a silver in Banked Slalom, during their participation in the world championships of Paralympic snowboarding that is hosting Big White (Canada) until Monday, March 10.
As reported on Monday the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation (RFEDI), the Gipuzkoana achieved the Golden Metal on Sunday in the Cross test where the Polish Monica Kotzian and Anna Drobna had as rivals and after having been in the qualifying batch with the second provisional time after Kotzian.
However, in the final, Idiakez was able to overcome the Central Europe to become a world champion at the individual level for the second time in his career after having achieved it in the modality of Dual Banked Slalom in the 2023 World Cups held in La Molina (Girona), and for the third time after winning with Raquel Martínez the title in SBX by teams in that appointment.
This second success in Big White came after last Friday conquered the silver medal at Banked Slalom. The Basque won Anna Drobna in her semifinal, but could not with Kotzian in the fight for gold.
The RFEDI stressed that the ‘Rider’ Guipuzcoana “has been growing exponentially throughout its professional career” since it began to heal in the Spanish Cup Movistar SBX/SX inclusive. This season the Spanish has already conquered his second glass balloon, in Banked Slalom, the first since the integration of athletes with disabilities into the federative structure.
