MADRID, 27 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Rayo Vallecano coach, Andoni Iraola, praised the great game and effort of his team to win (2-1) this Wednesday against FC Barcelona on matchday 31 of LaLiga Santander, with the “duties fulfilled” for the permanence to be able to think in Europe.
“I had the feeling that we were in the scenario that we wanted. Without the ball, the team has done a sensational job. We have covered many passing lanes and then we have turned the game in two directions. In the transitions we have hurt them,” he said in press conference in Vallecas.
The Madrid coach explained the importance of Álvaro García, “oxygen for the rest”, and the intensity put on the pitch against the leader. “In general, the only way to compete against these opponents is to be intense. If you go back, they have players who are going to punish you. We have kept the block quite high and from there we are good in transition. It allows you to live a little away from your goal, we have kept it. It is a team that up to now has been good for us. I feel that it has been a complete match, I don’t know if it was the best”, he stated.
“Today we have fulfilled our duties of the season, 43 points. From now on, if we want to win the option of fighting for the top positions, it will depend on the next three games. We are going to have to win it,” he finished, on the options of reaching the European zone in the seven days that remain.
