Andoni Iraola, coach of Rayo Vallecano, acknowledged that the victory against Leganés (3-0) is “an important advantage”, although he avoided triumphs and assured that “there is still a lot of tie and it will not be easy” to go to the final through the ascent.
Rayo Vallecano, with goals from Álvaro García and a double from Portuguese Baby, got the tie for promotion to First on track in the first leg played in Vallecas.
“There is still a lot of tie left, we have only played half, and we will have to play a good game on Sunday because Leganés is one of the best locals,” Iraola said at a press conference.
For the first time since March 8, 2020, the Vallecas stadium welcomed the public in its stands following a strict security protocol.
“Football with the public is another sport, especially for us, that when you have moments when you are tired or short of breath, having people cheering helps us a lot”, confessed the Basque coach, who warned that we must continue in the same line of seriousness for the return because “football changes in less than five minutes.”
“On Sunday you have to start and activate from scratch. We must give the game the intensity and tone that it will require of us. We got to this playoff well but so did they. You have to take this match by match because there is much left, “he concluded.
