Infanta Elena, bothered by another health problem after her horseback accident: “The years go by for everyone”

The start of 2024 for the Infanta Elena It's being complicated. Froilány Victoria Federica's mother suffered a sprain a couple of weeks ago while she was horseback riding. This Wednesday, with the orthopedic boot as a consequence of the mishap, Felipe VI's sister also revealed that she has undergone cataract surgery in one eye.

“The years pass for everyone“, joked the first-born of Juan Carlos I, who turned 60 on December 20. Infanta Elena admitted this new medical problem at the awards ceremony at the Las Meninas club (where it is honorary president) at the Wellington Hotel in Madrid.

During the event, the doctor and widow of Jaime Ostos María Ángeles Grajal, who also suffered an accident in early February, publicly thanked him for his assistance while they posed for the media. “He had the courtesy to come,” he said while pointing to the injured foot of Doña Sofía's daughter. This gratitude overwhelmed Queen Letizia's sister-in-law, who reacted spontaneously in front of the cameras.

For the occasion, and with the showy boot as the star accessory, the Duchess of Lugo opted for a beige blazer, flowing checkered pants in the same tone, a basic white blouse and a two-tone checkered scarf. To finish off her style, Infanta Cristina's sister chose maxi double hoop earrings and a bead and pearl necklace.

Infanta Elena already appeared limping at the end of January at the Madrid Sports Press Association Awards held at El Beatriz Auditorio in Madrid. Although she indicated that it was a sprain in her left foot, Jaime de Marichalar's ex-wife did not go into details about how the accident occurred. However, this Wednesday, Infanta Elena revealed that she injured her left foot while riding a horse. “I had a sprain when getting off the horse. The accident was in the silliest way. When I got off the horse I caught my foot and had the sprain, but I can now support it,” she explained to The confidential.
