Incredible as it may seem, Málaga-Burgos will be ‘high risk’

Incredible as it may seem, the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sports (what used to be the Anti-Violence Commission) has declared next Saturday’s match between Málaga Club de Fútbol and Burgos Club de Fútbol, that La Rosaleda will be played at 8:00 p.m., ‘high risk’.

This is a measure that implies the obligation to increase control and surveillance devices and the ban on ticket sales at the box office. A problem for the Malaguista fans because the club hoped to be able to dispatch many seats to beat the best ticket of the season, which was 22,128 fans on 11-22-2021 against Las Palmas.

The justification for this statement can be justified in the incidents carried out by some ultras groups of both teams in different areas of the city prior to the match. Burgos also usually send fans to their matches outside of El Plantío, although this time they are in smaller numbers because they already have their sporting objectives covered, but it is an element to take into account. Another reason may be that Antiviolencia denounced that a group of 500 Burgos fans dedicated offensive chants to the Malaguistas (the rest of the stadium disapproved of this minority group).

Malaga statement

This is the official statement from Malaga. “The club regrets to inform its fans that the competent authority has declared the Málaga CF – Burgos CF match high risk. For this reason, the body decides that the La Rosaleda Stadium ticket offices must remain closed to the public throughout the day on Saturday, May 21, the day that the aforementioned match will be held, and that online ticket sales will not be allowed either.

Málaga CF will make the available tickets available to its fans until Friday in the afternoon-night at the physical box office (until 8:00 p.m.) and on its website until 11:59 p.m. on Friday.
