BARCELONA, 17 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Iñaki Arechabaleta, one of the three candidates for the presidency of Athletic Club along with Ricardo Barkala and Jon Uriarte, wants to make the Biscayan team “strong and sustainable” so as “not to lose the talent” they create in Lezama, “the cornerstone” of the sports project.
“Based on Lezama’s current base, we want to give it a leap of excellence to place it at the level of the best academies in the world. An ambitious economic project that wants to make Athletic strong and sustainable so as not to have to lose the talent that we are creating in Lezama”, Arechabaleta expressed in an interview with the club’s official media published this Friday.
The candidate also explained the bases of the social project. “We want it to be cohesive and inclusive of the social mass. To treat the members as the true owners of the club and to make Athletic an active agent of the Basque community”, he pointed out.
Regarding his desire to be the next president of Athletic, Arechabaleta admitted being at the right time. “It has been my lifelong dream and it comes when my professional life ends. I feel good from a physical and intellectual point of view. And a series of circumstances have come together that have encouraged me. Athletic needs to make a leap in quality over the reality that it now has, which is good,” he explained.
“Our project is a guarantee and a commitment to work. Giving up our lives for this Athletic team at such a complicated moment in its football experience and competition. We are a guarantee of improvement, honesty and the future,” he stated.
