Inactive Eagles: Eagles won’t have their top two defenders against the Giants.
Zach Cunningham cannot play his second straight game because he hurt his knee on Saturday and was ruled out.
Nicholas Morrow (abdomen) is going to miss the game because he hasn’t been able to train all week. He was only able to come on Monday.
Shaq Leonard, who the Eagles picked up in the middle of the season, and Ben VanSumeren, who they didn’t draft, will be their best defenders in this game.
But the Eagles also brought up Brandon Smith to the practice squad and utilized Patrick Johnson this week as an off-ball defender in practice.
Three players were ruled out by the Eagles on Saturday. Darius Slay had surgery on his knee a few weeks ago, so he will miss his third straight game.
Slay, who is 32 years old, said on Friday that he does plan to come back soon. Kelee Ringo, a rookie, will likely start Monday instead of James Bradberry because he is out. Eli Ricks will then switch spots with him.
Dickerson possessed surgery on his hand last week. Like Slay, Dickerson dodged being put on IR and is likely to return for the playoffs.
For this game, both LB Brandon Smith as well as DB Tristin McCollum, who the Eagles brought up for it, are available.
Because Cam Jurgens played right guard last week, the Eagles are likely to start Sua Opeta in his place. After being out for a game, Jurgens (pectoral) will play again.
These are McCollum’s second and third chances to move up from the practice squad. Smith’s first game with the Eagles will be this one.
The Penn State player was picked in the fourth round and started one game for the Panthers in 2022.
The Eagles faltered at times after getting off to a fast start, but they were able to win in the end, ending a three-game losing streak with a 33-25 win over the New York Giants.
Along the way, Hurts made history when he ran for his 15th touchdown, which set a new record for most running scores by a quarterback in a single season.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said after the game, “I thought Jalen made a lot of good things.” “Jalen played a great game,” I said. I need to go watch it, of course.
The interception isn’t his fault, but I need to look at the other things that go with it. We’ll get better after that.
But I thought he made a lot of good things there as well even though it was tough. But we need to clean up some things, and that goes for both teachers and Jalen.
Of course we need to clean up some things, but we have the energy to get back on track.” There’s no doubt that fixing the tape after a win feels better than after a loss.
In order to get out of the funk we were in, we needed a win. I also thought there were a lot of good things that happened today.
I’ll have to watch it again and give you more information about that, but there were a lot of good things.
After Monday’s win, Hurts had thrown for 301 yards on 24 of 38 attempts, with one score and one interception. After going two games without a touchdown, the toss broke the streak.
He also ran for 34 yards on eight runs, including a 1-yard tush push touchdown to start the game’s scoring and break a tie with Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a season.
Hurts said of the play, “He held up enough, moved through the pocket, and was able to go it over to the defender.”
It was a great play by A.J. to stay living. We put ourselves in that situation, but we have to not let it get the best of us and find a way to get out of it.
The Giants brought Mason Crosby, a new kicker, and Tomon Fox, an outside defender, off the practice squad on Sunday.
They also got back one offensive tackle but lost another. The Giants took Evan Neal (ankle) off of injured list and put Matt Peart back on it.
Crosby, who kicked for the Green Bay Packers for 16 years, joined the team on Friday, when Cade York was put on injured reserve as the third kicker.
But York hurt his quad in practice this week, so he won’t be able to make his Giants start. After having surgery on his knee, he joins Graham Gano and Randy Bullock on injured reserve.
Crosby has scored 1,918 points, which is 11th most in NFL history and nearly 900 points more than any other player in Packers history.
Crosby was picked in the sixth round of the 2007 draft out of Colorado. In 258 career games, he has made 395 field goals out of 485 tries, which is 81.4 percent.
He has also made 31 out of 35 field goal tries in 23 postseason games, including Super Bowl XLV, which Green Bay won.
