In Italy they link Cavani with Atlético again

Edinson Cavani (33 years old) is one of the jewels of the market. The Uruguayan forward ended his contract with PSG and since then he is free to sign with the club of his choice. There have been several teams to which his name has been linked in recent months (since it became known that he was not going to continue in Paris). Juve, Gremio, Benfica (with whom he was close to signing in August) and Atlético have been some of them. Precisely the rojiblancos are the preferred ones according to reports from Italy. And is that ‘Sky’ and the journalist Gianluca Di Marzio assure that the Uruguayan is waiting for the rojiblancos to make room in his forward and, above all, that they release a wage bill, to sign with them. For that reason, has turned a deaf ear to the various offers it has received since his arrival in Lisbon was thwarted. A weeks ago we already reported that the Uruguayan once again contemplated the option of joining the mattress team.

The history of Cavani and Atlético comes from afar. The mattresses, and especially their coach, have always liked charrúa, and the feeling is mutual, since the forward has stated on occasion that he was seduced to play under Cholo's command for the rojiblanco team, but getting him out of PSG was an impossible task. However, this campaign, which was the last of his contract with the Parisians, A path was opened that the rojiblancos tried to exploit last January. The Uruguayan made it clear that he was not going to continue in France and, therefore, Simeone's men sought to take advantage of this circumstance to take the player. They entered into conversations with both the Uruguayan and PSG trying to reach an agreement, but the negotiations did not come to fruition (with crossed reproaches with the representatives of Cavani included) and instead, Carrasco arrived.

With the coronavirus crisis, Atlético's coffers have suffered a significant decline and Right now he can't face an operation of this caliber (around 12 million euros net per season for a minimum of two seasons). The only way to do it is reduce wage bill and, for this, has put several players on the market in order to get money and save chips. One of them is Diego Costa, which has a salary of about eight million euros per season. Only by giving out to Lagarto would they be in a position to offer Cavani the amount he asks for to sign and that would allow to unite the destinies of both parts. Still, surely the Uruguayan would have to lower his economic claims to facilitate the agreement.
