In court papers, an ex-Canton Charge athlete admits to killing a woman by strangling her.

Someone who used to play in the NBA G League admitted to killing a woman in Las Vegas. His name is Chance Comanche.

According to court records, he was arrested last week in connection with her disappearance.

KCRA3 to Sacramento reports that Comanche, who is 27 years old, went to court in Sacramento County on Tuesday and refused to be sent back to Nevada, where he is being charged with murder and murder plot.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police found Marayna Rodgers’ body in the desert last week. They had already arrested Comanche and his 19-year-old partner Sakari Harnden in connection with Rodgers’ disappearance.

A news release says that Rodgers was reported missing by the LVMPD on December 7, two days after she met alongside Harnden and Comanche in Las Vegas.

Records show that Harnden and Comanche had planned to steal via Rodgers while they were supposed to be on a double date.

On December 13, Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas. On December 15, Comanche, who used to play for the Stockton Kings in the G-League, was caught in Sacramento. After he was arrested, the Kings club let him go.

Rodgers died early in the morning on December 6, just a few hours shortly after the Kings played Ignite of the NBA G League in Henderson, Nevadas.

Court records show that both Rodgers and Harnden were in Las Vegas to sex work, as reported by KCRA 3.

KCRA3 says Comanche told police who Rodgers agreed with having her hands tied behind her back with a zip tie before his and Harnden killed her.

NBC News says that the court report shows he said he choked Rodgers “for about 10 seconds” with an HDMI cord while Harnden employed her hands.

“But Sakari continued choking her,” the affidavit said. Comanche said he stopped choking Rodgers as he heard her in pain.

Police say that after Rodgers died, Comanche and Harnden threw her body away in a ditch next to a road and covered it with rocks.

Police say that Comanche went back to the M Resort Casino hotel where the Kings were staying around 6 a.m., and the team left around 8:50 a.m., based on footage from the hotel’s security cameras.

As a player, Comanche had already played in 47 games against the Memphis Hustle in the 2017–18 season and 27 games for the Canton Charge in the 2018–19 season.

A trade with Memphis in January 2019 gave the Charge Comanche in exchange for the Raptors 905’s 2019 second-round select pick and the right to return Jordan Matthews as a player.

Police say that 19-year-old Sakari Harnden, who used to be Comanche’s partner, is also being charged with Rodgers’ death. She is still being held without bond in a Las Vegas jail.

Anna Clark, who is Harnden’s deputy Clark County public attorney, wouldn’t say anything about the case on Wednesday. They put Rodgers’ body at a ditch next to a road after she was dead, according to the cops.

Rodgers, a medical assistant via Washington State, was last seen in Las Vegas on December 7 while he was there visiting friends. Later, her body parts were found in Henderson, a neighbor of Las Vegas.

The statement says that Comanche and Harnden choked Rodgers in the early hours of December 6.

The police said that both Harnden and Rodgers worked as sex workers while Harnden along with Rodgers were fighting over an expensive watch.

The plan was for Comanche to pretend to be a sex customer and tie Rodgers’ limbs behind her back, according to the statement.

It said that Comanche choked Rodgers with a cord whereas Harnden choked him with both hands.

Before he was arrested, Comanche played for the Stockton Kings, who are the Sacramento Kings’ NBA G League team. In 13 games, he scored 14 points and 7 rebounds.

Comanche is a 6-foot-10 power point guard and center who played college basketball at Arizona in 2015 to 2017 before entering the NBA draft.

He didn’t get picked in the draft and got a free agent deal with the Portland Trail Blazers to April, but he only played in one game.
