Imane Khelif: “Trump’s transgender policies neither concern me or intimidate me”

London 19 Mar. (PA Media/DPA/EP) –

The Algerian boxer Imane Khelif ensures that policies against transgender athletes who want to execute the president of the United States do not “intimidate” him and reiterate that he has “nothing to hide” and that all the controversies about their gender have begun as soon as it began to “harvest successes.”

The 25 -year -old fighter won the Gold Medal in Paris 2024 in the middle of the controversy over its gender next to the Taiwanese Lin Yu Ting, after both could not have competed in the previous World Cup due to this issue. In the debate they contributed, in addition to Trump, recognized figures such as the American businessman Elon Musk or the writer JK Rowling, author of Harry Potter.

“I will give you a direct answer: the president of the United States issued a decision related to transgender policies in the United States. I am not transsexual, this does not concern me and does not intimidate me. That is my answer,” Khelif said in an interview with the ITV chain ‘that will be broadcast on Wednesday.

The African athlete had previously made it clear that he planned to defend his gold in Los Angeles 2028. “A second gold medal, of course. In the United States, Los Angeles,” said the boxer, who confessed that he was “deeply affected mentally” by the “great media campaign” that surrounded her and that her mother went to the hospital almost daily, since her family shared the worst part of the attacks.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has decided to dismiss the blood tests that had led to the International Boxing Association, to which the agency based in Lausana (Switzerland) has removed governance on this sport, to disqualify Khelif from the 2023 world championships.

“As we say in Algeria, who has nothing to hide should not be afraid. The truth was clear at the Paris Olympic Games: injustice was uncovered and, later, the Olympic committee recognized the truth in Paris,” he said.

Khelif made it clear that he looks “like a girl, like any other girl.” “I was born a girl, I grew up a girl and I have lived all my life as such,” he added. “I have competed in many tournaments, including Tokyo’s Olympic Games and other great competitions, as well as in four world championships. They all took place before they started winning already getting titles, but as soon as I started harvesting successes, campaigns against me began,” he said.
