“I’m ready to start”

Víctor Sánchez, who arrived in Girona with the winter market closed and being a signing that raised some doubts among the fans, made his debut last Sunday in Almería and given the multiple casualties that Míchel has for this weekend, the footballer assured in press conference that is “ready to be a starter.”

“I am an experienced player with many games behind me. I want and I try to help the team in whatever way I can, playing half an hour or the whole game. If the coach wants it, I feel ready to start on Sunday and I’m looking forward to giving my best”, declared the former Espanyol footballer, who played the last half hour of the match at the Mediterranean Games.

Without Ramon Terrats, Borja García, Ibrahima Kebé and Aleix García, Víctor Sánchez has enough ballots to occupy the core of Girona along with Pol Lozano, whom he already knows from his time at Espanyol. “My reception has been really good. I already knew some players, but everyone has gotten along very well with me. It’s been many years in changing rooms and I try to help everyone as much as possible”, remarked the midfielder, who assured that in Almería he felt “good and fast”.

At a collective level and with a speech that carries weight due to his extensive experience, Víctor Sánchez also spoke about the team’s objectives and direct promotion. “It’s a very difficult goal because we have to win a lot of games. Our intention is to win every game and if we get the remaining 27 points it will be possible. We cannot fail and it is difficult, but this is our idea, he acknowledged.

The next challenge for the Catalans will be on Friday against Málaga, a wounded team with a really bad dynamic, but one that the people of Girona don’t trust. “We are aware that it will be a very difficult match because we arrived with many casualties and because they need the three points. We have 4 wins in a row and each game will cost more, lengthens the dynamic. The more you earn the closer you are to not doing it. It is important to win because we would put four and the rest would have to play”, he sentenced.

Dissatisfied and surprised with the VAR

The VAR again harmed Girona in Almería, something that is no longer a novelty this season and a situation that is increasingly bothering Montilivi. “These are difficult and strange situations”, declared Víctor Sánchez, who also wanted to make it clear that the team has to “try to stay out of it, because if we think about the VAR and the referee it means that we are not involved in the game. The club has to talk to whoever touches it and we have to be focused”, he concluded.
