Igor Angulo: 100 matches at the Ekstraklasa

Igor Angulo continues its legend in Poland. He is already one of the best forwards who have passed through the Górnik Zabrze, one of the most successful clubs in the history of Polish football. Likewise, Angulo continues to expand his history: last weekend he reached 100 matches at the Ekstraklasa and celebrated it by scoring in the meritorious victory of his team against Legia from Warsaw, current championship leader with seven points advantage over Piast Gliwice .

“Igor always works hard. His career indicates that he will score goals again at key moments for Górnik”Górnik Zabrze coach Marcin Brosz said before the game against Legia. Said and done. After five games without seeing a goal, Igor Angulo appeared when his team needed him most. The Bilbao striker made it 2-0 in the absence of half an hour and practically sentenced the match in favor of the miners, who they do not know the defeat in the Ekstraklasa post-covid-19 and will start the second part of the season with 11 points margin compared to the relegation zone.

That Górnik Zabrze has once again established himself in the elite of Polish football is thanks in part to goals by Igor Angulo. Spanish striker came to the team with this militant in Second and made 17 fundamental goals for his return to the Ekstraklasa. Angulo debuted in First scoring 23 goals that left him only one of the 'Pichichi', which fell into the hands of another Spanish, Carlitos López. In his second year he was able to win the award for the top scorer of the year and this course is, with 12 goals, the sixth top scorer in the competition.

Total, Igor Angulo has scored 84 goals with Górnik Zabrze. 59 of them in an Ekstraklasa in which he already has 100 appearances. “I would stay for life in Zabrze,” the Spaniard said in an interview with Migrantes del Balón. The 36-year-old from Bilbao, however, contract ends on June 30 and everything indicates that his future is far from Poland His destination could be in Turkey or India, but he is already in talks with the club to sign a brief renovation that will allow him to end the season with the miners.
