Ibiza JoySail makes a powerful commitment to the Corinthian

No changes in the general classification with Moat (Performance), Dark Horse (Performance Cruiser), Aurelius (World Cruising) and Svea (J Class), leaders

MADRID, 29 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ibiza JoySail has crossed the halfway point with the celebration of the second test this Friday, for both the Superyachts and the J Class, without changes in the leadership of the four classes with Moat (Performance), Dark Horse (Performance Cruiser), Aurelius (World Cruising) and Svea (J Class) at the front.

Ibiza JoySail seeks to have performance boats of the highest level, but also cruise boats that will enjoy and share experiences with people who like the sea. That is why the owners also play an important role within this philosophy. Among them, the Corinthian, whose spirit is to sail in cruising conditions, without unloading materials, with the original sails and a limited number of professionals on board.

The combination of professional crews with other more amateur ones is another of the bets of the Ibiza JoySail, which makes it a differential regatta. In the first edition of the Ibiza JoySail in 2021, five boats were registered, in the second in 2022 there were eleven and in this third in 2023, fourteen units.

Of all the participants, Dark Horse (Swan 80) is one of the greatest ambassadors in this regatta philosophy, having participated since the first edition, first with a very small team of five crew members, without prepared sails and being the first regatta in which he participated.

The owner of Dark Horse has enjoyed it so much that he has bought new sails and in this third one he also does it with eleven professionals, and now he is not sailing in Corinthian but in Performance Cruising, to the point that he is the leader in the Performance Cruising division followed by Prevail (Tripp 90) and Shambo (Y7 70), which is the first Corinthian.

In Performance, the class with the largest participation, there are two Swan 115 sister boats, the Moat and the Jasi, which occupy the first and second positions. Third overall and first Corinthian is Kiboko (SW 105). The Aragon (SW 94) is the other Corinthian within the group of larger ships.

In World Cruising, of the three participants, two are Corinthian, the Aurelius (Dyskra 111), leader, and the Alarife 100 (Custom 99), third. Second place is occupied by Scorpion of London (Baltic 151), which was the winner of this Friday’s test.

The Race Committee with Gaspar Morey and Pablo Ferrer knew how to take advantage of the only window that opened when a sustained 5 knots blew. The route was located between the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, with a total of 5.88 miles starting at a buoy and returning to the island of Espardell. The J Class did one more stretch while the Superyachts finished as soon as they turned the islet.
