Iberia will be the airline that will transport the senior men’s and women’s soccer teams for the next five years, following the agreement signed this Wednesday at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas (Madrid) by the president of the airline, Javier Sánchez-Prieto , and that of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales.
Until 2026, the airline will be the official airline of the men’s and women’s soccer teams for their trips to all sports competitions.
Luis Rubiales has thanked Iberia for its “bet” on the national teams in five “important” years for Spanish football, in which he will try to organize the 2030 World Cup. The president of the RFEF has highlighted that Iberia and the national team share colors and are part of the Spain Brand.
“You have a scale of values from which we have a lot to learn. We have faced each day in these four years since we arrived at the RFEF as if it were the first, in hard years. We are with renewed energy and with the pride that Iberia wants be by our side,” said Rubiales.
For his part, Javier Sánchez-Prieto pointed out that Iberia is proud that the RFEF trusts “once again” in the company to take the football teams on their trips because it “reinforces” them in their role as Honorary Ambassadors of the Spain Brand.
“And, above all, it allows us to bring with us the enthusiasm of an entire country to the different competitions. The constant effort and desire to improve by both teams are an example for Iberia employees and for all of us who consider that every day is the first day,” Sánchez-Prieto added.
This five-year agreement, from 2022 to 2026, includes discounts and other benefits on the trips of the senior soccer teams, as well as the organization of charter flights for different competitions.
Among others, this year the absolute men’s team will fly with Iberia to Qatar to play the FIFA World Cup, which will be played from November 21 to December 18. The women’s team has as its great international event this year the European Championship, which will be played in England, from July 6 to 31.
