“I didn’t know that Terelu had applied to host Mañaneros”

“Coming to RTVE is a lot and means a great responsibility”. This is how Adela González, TVE’s new signing to host Mañaneros, introduces herself after Jaime Cantizano left to take charge of the afternoons on Onda Cero. Starting in September, the journalist will be in charge of the La 1 magazine where, by the way, she will once again coincide with Lydia Lozano, whom she knows from Save me. Who you won’t see there is Terelu Campos, who left the public channel to sign for Mediaset, although for a while there was talk that she had applied to be the presenter of Morning people.

At what professional stage did you arrive at Mañaneros?

I am very happy and confident because I am of a certain age, I am over 50, and I have the experience and peace of mind that comes from having presented programmes for so many years. But coming to RTVE is a lot and means a great responsibility.

How did your signing come about? How was the moment of the call?

They called me to explain that Jaime Cantizano was going to the radio and they proposed it to me. It was there as a seed and later they called me again and insisted; I thought that I had to think about it and consider it. And here I am.

Do you think it’s a magazine made for you? Because it combines current affairs and entertainment…

Yes, I’m going to be very comfortable. Plus, there’s a very cohesive team and that gives me a lot of peace of mind.

Have you been able to speak with Cantizano?

No, I have to ask for the phone. I would like to speak to him and I wish him all the best because he is a great presenter. I will give my stamp to the programme.

How do you feel about facing Susanna Griso and Joaquín Prat?

I will approach it with professionalism, doing my job very well and with a well-organized program. I intend to enjoy it. If you do it this way, people will come.

Do you feel pressure from the audience?

Yes, I always look at the ratings, even when I don’t have a show.

Does it frustrate you when the data is worse than expected?

Yes, because sometimes you make a great programme and the audience is bad, and the opposite also happens. Having a good audience allows you to be flexible and make a better programme.

Are you looking forward to meeting Lydia Lozano again?

Yes, she wrote me a message telling me that she was already a morning girl and that she was very happy. Me too, because there [en Mañaneros] there are wickerwork to make a great basket.

You said you received a lot of messages. Did you miss any?

No, I don’t think so. Everyone I wanted to wrote to me.

And any that you were particularly excited about?

I know that the competition would write to me because they have not only been colleagues, but also friends. I love that and it motivates me.

Has Terelu Campos written to you?

I swear I haven’t seen it, I still have unread messages. I don’t rule it out…

Did you know that he had been nominated or was in talks to host Mañaneros?

I think one of the Kikos said that, but I had no idea.

Does your signing with TVE imply more projects?

You think it’s not enough, Morning People! (Laughs)

Do you see yourself on Telepasión?

I would love to, because I really like dancing and all those things.

If the offer for Mañaneros hadn’t arrived, did you have any projects at Atresmedia after Más vale sábado?

I had a contract with Atresmedia but Morning people It was a project that excited me and I came here. But I have been very happy at Atresmedia.

Have you terminated your contract early to go to Mañaneros?

Yes, but I have an excellent relationship with Atresmedia at the moment.
