“I can take criticism, but death threats are different”

Like several of the Munich managers, Julian Nagelsmann has become one of the main players in Bayern Munich’s European debacle. The coach of the Bavarian team has also seen how in recent days, after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Champions League by the yellow submarine, fans charged against him on social networks, to the point of receiving death threats, as as has happened to the family of Hasan Salihamidzic.

Asked at a press conference about these intimidating messages, Nagelsmann has acknowledged that he can “bear criticism, but death threats are different. I receive them after each game, but I delete them all”. Despite the numerous criticisms that the German coach has received and continues to receive, he does not seem to lose focus on his work: “People can write what they want, but perhaps they should think about what they write. They continue to think that they are right. That is the rare”. However, and despite the fact that both Nagelsmann himself and Esther Copado, Hasan Salihamidzic’s wife, have been seriously threatened, the Bayern Munich coach has stated that “The club is not going to increase security. I don’t want to provoke anyone, so far there has been no one at my door.”

While the family of the sporting director of the Bavarian team did denounce the threats and messages received in recent days on their social media profiles, Nagelsmann wants to turn the page, learn from the mistakes made against Villarreal and focus on Bayern’s next game Munich, as well as in the next season. “I talk to Marco Neppe and ‘Brazzo’ (Hasan Salihamidzic) every day. On Wednesday morning I watched the game again and cut some scenes. Yesterday I had a very long conversation with Oliver Kahn about the squad and about whether we would have to bring in some new players.”declared the German coach.
