“I am delighted to face this challenge,” says Luis Prieto

Complicated but beautiful at the same time ”. This is how the new ‘adventure’ in which he has embarked is presented Luis Prieto. Dima's central and effective former defense of the Athletic It will be the second on board Iker Bilbao at Leioa and thus satisfy his desire to taste football after a waiting and training course once his rojiblanca career has ended.

“It is a very nice category. The Leioa has been in it for many years, it is settling in Second B. It can be an exciting season. As a professional I am delighted to face this challenge, to try to continue learning and to contribute as much as I can ”.

I will always be grateful to Athletic, first because they gave me the opportunity to be a player, and then because they gave me the opportunity to be a coach.

Prieto joins the Right Bank club after several exercises in Lezama, a stage that only raises thanks. For a long time he was working in the quarry, until a year ago he dissociated himself from Athletic without being injured. “An agreement could not be reached. They are things that happen. The important thing is that it continues to work. We are in an exciting situation right now in Athletic and the important thing is that. A lot of people entered there and I will always be grateful to Athletic, first because they gave me the opportunity to be a player, and then because they gave me the opportunity to be a coach, ”he highlights.

“It was good for me”

In this period of waiting for new horizons, Prieto has kept his training in mind, making it compatible with household chores. “This stage has been good for me, because I had my third daughter last August and I have reconciled family life with education. I have done several courses trying to prepare myself better. On that side it has been good for me, but I wanted to try to re-engage in the world of football and I thank Leioa for betting on me. Now I have to try to contribute the maximum ”, he says.

But that year away from the green is past water and now he faces a challenge that captivates him. “I will act as second coach. It is a new situation for me. I have worked as a coach in lower categories and now Segunda B is a totally different category. I am excited about the project. Last week we decided to take this step and accept the challenge, “he explains.

Uncertainty

The problem is that the panorama is marked by a lack of certainty, which will affect the planning of many aspects. “There is a lot of uncertainty about what is going to happen next season. A calendar is more or less known. Everything will depend on how society is responding to what is truly important now, which is to get out of this virus situation. Hopefully everything goes well and you can return to the activity, ”he wishes.

There is a lot of uncertainty, a lot of things have to be closed, the templates … At this point the markets are moving a lot, what happens is that this year is a bit special. We will have to wait a bit to see what team and what players we have

Such is the situation that you will have to stock up on patience while waiting for news. Knowing what the Leioa will look like is complicated. “It is still early, there is a lot of uncertainty, many things have to be closed, the staff … At this point the markets are moving a lot, what happens is that this year is a little special. We will have to wait a bit to see what team and what players we have, ”he assumes.

On the right track

And the same is true of the social situation, which will mark other areas, such as sports. “It will depend on how the pandemic goes. I think we are on the right track and next season we are close to normal, but it will cost us because there will always be possibilities that there will be some rebound, some regrowth. We will have to play with it ”, appreciates Dima's.

“It will be a very special season in that and there will always be the uncertainty that we have come from a very extreme situation, with two months and a half confined, with which fear will exist throughout the season” , Add.
