Hugo Mallo “categorically” denies accusations of sexual abuse

MADRID, 31 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Hugo Mallo's agent, Quique De Lucas, “categorically” denied this Wednesday the accusations made about the former Celta player of alleged sexual abuse and recalled that the justice system had already decided to file the case as “it did not consider the facts to be proven.”

The statement from the footballer's agent comes after this Tuesday the newspaper 'As' reported that on July 11 the Galician full-back, currently with the Brazilian Internacional de Porto Alegre, should go to trial again for what happened at the stadium. RCD Espanyol on April 24, 2019 and after the woman who worked as a mascot for the Catalan team reported him for sexual touching during the handrail.

“After the information recently published in the media, we believe some clarifications are appropriate. Firstly, we categorically deny the reported facts, which was already made clear before the Court that investigated them, demanding absolute respect for the presumption of innocence. “, stated Quique De Lucas through a statement on social networks.

De Lucas insisted that the “same” court decided to “file the matter” after having taken statements from the complainant and the footballer and “assessing the rest of the evidence”, since “it did not consider the facts proven.” “This resolution was appealed by both parties, the complainant because she believed that the facts described in the complaint were proven and we understood that not only were they not proven but it could be assured that they had not occurred,” he added.

Hugo Mallo's agent clarified that it was the Provincial Court that ordered “the file to be reopened” so that the case could be resolved “in an oral trial”, to which his client appeared as “innocent”, and also stressed that both RC Celta like RCD Espanyol, “upon activating their respective protocols and after analyzing the information received, they considered that there was no evidence of what was reported.”

In addition, he recalled that, likewise, the Royal Spanish Football Federation nor LaLiga initiated “any file either.” “We ask that Justice be allowed to act, as well as the utmost respect for Hugo and his family while waiting for the truth to emerge,” the representative concluded.
