Valencia CF confirmed this Monday that it has reached an agreement with defender Hugo Guillamón to extend his contract until June 30, 2026, thus ensuring the future of one of its current pillars and indisputable for Gennaro Gattuso in this start of the season.

I am Hugo Guillamón and Mestalla is my house,” Guillamón said in a video on the club’s social networks.
The 22-year-old from San Sebastián arrived at the ‘che’ quarry when he was just five years old and since then he has been growing until debuting on February 22, 2020 with the first team against Real Sociedad in Anoeta, while his first match official in Mestalla was on June 12, 2020 against Levante UD.
As Valencia recalled, Guillamón, international with the Spanish team, has become a regular in their line-ups and has already accumulated more than 7,000 minutes between all competitions. This campaign, acting as a midfielder, he has played as a starter in all seven LaLiga Santander games.
The black and white club highlighted “his versatility, quality and intelligence” of the youth squad, virtues that have made him “one of the players with the greatest projection in LaLiga” and “have led him to become an absolute international with Spain, after having offered a excellent performance in the lower categories of the national team”.
The renewal of the Basque soccer player was one of the most important issues that Layhoon Chan, president of Valencia and Peter Lim’s right-hand man, had on the agenda. After failing to retain Carlos Soler, transferred to PSG, the ‘che’ team was focusing their efforts on this renewal and on that of captain José Luis Gayà.
