How much money does Garbiñe Muguruza win for winning the WTA Finals?

Garbiñe Muguruza made history … again. Lto Caracas, to the two Grand Slam that he had in his record, he now adds the WTA Finals, which brings together the best players of the season. In this way, Garbiñe becomes the first national ‘teacher’ after surpassing the Estonian Kontaveit in Guadalajara (Mexico). As for the financial prizes, the event distributed this year a total of 4.4 million euros (one fifth being for the doubles modality). Muguruza, as the winner of the tournament, pocketed a total of 1.38 million euros. The highest amount that a player could take was 1.48 million euros, but it was in the case of making her undefeated, while Garbiñe fell in her debut in the tournament against Pliskova. At the point level, it adds up to 1,375 (the maximum was 1,500).

The prizes for Muguruza are distributed as follows: € 97,000 for participating, € 194,000 for his two victories in the Round Robin, € 371,000 for his semi-final win and € 724,300 for his success in the grand final. In 2020 the tournament was not played due to the pandemic and, compared to the 2019 edition, the number of prizes for the eight players is much lower: the economic rewards for the participants were reduced by up to 64%. In the case of Paula Badosa, for example, he pocketed the participation fee (€ 110,000), two victories in the Round Robin (€ 194,000) and a bonus of 26,500 for falling in the semifinals after reaching this round.

By 2022, the WTA Finals are expected to return to Shenzhen, China. He will do it with Garbiñe Muguruza defending the title achieved this year in Guadalajara (Mexico). It was in 2019 in the Chinese city when the largest prize was given to the winner, Ashleigh Barty, who pocketed 3.9 million euros. If he had won it undefeated, they were 4.2. The pandemic also affects the world of tennis, although this historic joy to Garbiñe no one will be able to take away after a triumph that enters the golden letters of Spanish tennis.
