Horner: “I feel enormous loyalty towards the Red Bull workers, I can't imagine myself anywhere else”

MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Red Bull team leader, Christian Horner, expressed this Friday that he feels “enormous loyalty” for the team's workers, so he cannot imagine himself “somewhere else”, after his future was in question when he was accused of alleged inappropriate behavior with an employee from within the structure.

“I have been here from the beginning. I have built the team. I feel enormous loyalty to the people who work here, so I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else,” said the Briton in an interview with TalkSPORT reported by Europa Press.

The team leader of the 'energetics' met on Friday, February 9, with the Red Bull leadership in Milton Keynes to discuss his future, after being accused of allegedly behaving inappropriately with an employee of the structure. However, the engineer said he was “fine, as usual.”

“I'm focused on the season ahead of us and, obviously, I'm looking forward to seeing the cars on the track next week in Bahrain,” he said in the first interview after this case came to light.

For that debut, Max Verstappen and 'Checo' Pérez will drive the RB20, with a design that “has not been conformist”, despite having won the last three championships. “The car is an aggressive evolution of our B19, the most successful car in the history of the sport. The design team has done a great job to come up with what looks like a very good evolution of our B19,” he said.

“I think Max is unique. I think he is the most complete driver I have worked with, or that I have seen in Formula 1, and his motivation is still through the roof,” he commented on the Dutchman, with whom he did not exchange ” cards or roses” on Valentine's Day, although he acknowledged that he is “a very important part” of the team. “He is a great guy, a great driver and we have always had a very strong relationship,” he confessed.

Finally, Horner described Lewis Hamilton's decision to leave Mercedes to join Ferrari next year as “brave.” “Ferrari is one of the nicest teams in Formula 1, it is an incredible brand and I think Lewis has seen something that has made him change his mind and led him to take the step,” he analyzed.

“It is impossible to know what is behind these decisions and what their future options are, that is why I try to focus on what we are doing instead of worrying about others,” he concluded.
