HM Hospitales Hydra, winner in ORC 1-2 in the largest edition of the TabarcaVela Diputación de Alicante

The other winners were Tanit IV Medilevel, Enewtec, Dorsia Covirán, Plis Play II and Kai

MADRID, 17 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Óscar Chaves’ HM Hospitales Hydra has been proclaimed the winner in the premier category ORC 1-2 in the largest edition, with the participation of 70 boats, of the TabarcaVela Diputación de Alicante regatta, held from July 13 to 16 in waters of the bay of Alicante.

The other champions have been María José Vila’s Tanit IV Medilevel in ORC 3, Francisco Miguel’s Enewtec in ORC 4-5, Núria Sánchez’s Dorsia Covirán in Alicante City & Beach J22, Vicente García’s Plis Play I in Dragon and Kai by Máximo Caturla in Dragon.

The duel between HM Hospitales Hydra (CN El Balís) and Pez de Abril (CN Portman) was complete from start to finish. Only half a point separated the two ships. The ORC 1-2 class was the only one that contested two tests between the cruise ships on this last day. The podium ended up being first for HM Hospitales, Pez de Abril, second and Maverta (RCN Torrevieja), third.

El Pez de Abril won the fifth round and was provisionally leading, but what seemed to be definitive was not, since with three minutes to go before the time limit expired, the Race Committee chaired by Pedro Reyes gave the start of the sixth sleeve, in which the April Fish made an offline that turned the test upside down, since he had to be exonerated and lost a lot of time and would finish sixth.

HM Hospitales Hydra took advantage of this, skippered by Fernando León and helmed by José Ponce, who came in third behind Maverta, winner of the last round and Nacho Zalvide’s Seabery Dralion (CN Sevilla).

The last day started late because the wind hadn’t quite picked up. Those who were able to compete fairly quickly in their three races were the one design, while the ORC classes had to wait more than an hour for the easterly wind to come in, of about ten knots of intensity, to be able to contest their tests.

The awards ceremony took place in the Sailor Village of the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante with the presence of Miguel López Barbero, president of the RCRA; Javier Sanz, president of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, Carlos Torrado, president of the Valencian Community Sailing Federation and the director of TabarcaVela, Núria Sánchez Nomdedeu.
