The women’s team is in negotiations to equalize salaries since 2016, after the figures distributed in the last World Cups have been very unequal, according to the American press. One of the first reactions came from captain Megan Rapinoe, who said that this is “a great victory for all women” and will be remembered as “the moment everything changed“, in his participation in the program Good Morning America TV of ABC.
Fellow player Alex Morgan spoke of “a monumental step forward for feel valued, feel respected… I don’t just see this as a victory for our team or women’s sport, but for women in general.”
