MADRID, 12 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Tottenham striker Heung-min Son has been included in the 26-player squad from South Korea for the World Cup in Qatar, offered this morning by the Asian team’s coach, the Portuguese Paulo Bento, despite his injury, while RCD Mallorca midfielder Kang-in Lee will also travel to the World Cup.
The 30-year-old suffered a broken eye socket in a Champions League match against Olympique de Marseille earlier this month, an injury that put his participation in the World Cup in doubt. However, he assured this week that he would be on the plane to Qatar.
Now, Son has now been officially included in South Korea’s roster for the tournament that begins on November 20, although Bento did not specify when he might start training.
“We still don’t have that information. We are in contact with him and with the Tottenham medical department. We have to wait, we have to analyze his situation day by day. We have time to decide and the most important thing is that he recovers as best as possible, that feel comfortable, and then we will make the final decision,” he told the BBC.
Also in the call is RCD Mallorca midfielder Kang-in Lee, as well as Min-Jae Kim, Napoli centre-back, and Wolverhampton striker Hee-chan Hwang.
