Herrera, on the Porto agenda

Héctor Herrera (30 years old) has an uncertain future at Atlético. The Mexican He came free last summer to the rojiblanco club from Porto as a reinforcement of guarantees for the Simeone midfield. He came with the vitola of being the captain of the Portuguese club and having a great experience in European football. However, his weight in the team has been less than expected. In total he has participated in 30 matches among all competitions, adding up to 1530 ’(16th in minutes played) in which has scored a goal and has given two assists. Despite this, was chosen by Simeone to replace Thomas in the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Leipzig in Lisbon.

Atlético needs to obtain income to be able to face the operations with which he intends to reinforce the squad, such as a center forward or a midfielder. Thus, Herrera is one of the players on the starting ramp if a suitable offer arrives. Until now no suitor had come to light that he was interested in taking over the services of the Aztec. However, in the last few hours an old acquaintance has appeared who wants to recruit the mattress worker for his ranks. And it is that the Portuguese television channel ‘TVI24’ informs that precisely his former team, Porto, is considering trying to repatriate the Mexican.

For now, it is simply an informal interest, since they have not yet entered into talks with Atlético to negotiate a possible signing. However, the good memory he left in ‘O Dragao’ (played six campaigns with the goalkeepers in which he participated in 245 games and scored 35 goals) make the Portuguese be an attractive destination for Herrera if it doesn't fit into Simeone's plans and he has to pack his bags. It is likely that the rojiblancos do not put many objections to leaving the Mexican for a reasonable priceas it came free, so they do not have to repay any amount for his signing. Also, they would save their token that, taking into account that he arrived free, he will surely be at the top of the squad.
