He was freed from prison in South Africa following nine years to killing his lover.

Runner Oscar Pistorius, who suffered the loss of both limbs, got out from jail on parole on the Friday.

It had been more than ten years since he killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp as in an exceptionally shocking way.

Pistorius asked for release in November and was granted it as he had completed the first half of his 13-year sentence to killing Steenkamp, doing which South African law states he must do.

CNN was told by Singabakho Nxumalo, a spokeswoman over South Africa’s Ministry for Correctional Services (DCS), that Pistorius was freed of the a suburb of At Correctional Centre west of Pretoria on Friday morning.

There are rules he has to follow until the end in his sentence in 2029. The city of South Africa is Pretoria is just a few kilometers away from Atteridgeville jail.

He was freed after almost nine years of prison time to slaying his beau, Reeva Steenkamp. A message from the Ministry for Justice at 6:30 says that the Paralympic winner has been placed on probation as planned as of today.

The young man is already at the fancy home of uncle Arnold Pistorius in Waterkloof, a rich part of Pretoria.

Because he shot his girlfriend upon Valentine’s Day 2013, Pistorius served 13 as well as a half years in jail.

He says the did it by mistake because he felt she might have been a thief. In December 2029, his sentence will be over.

He has to take lessons on how to manage his rage and stop hitting women until then. He also can’t drink alcohol.

People in Waterkloof won’t let him go without his permission. He is also going to do community work and won’t be free to talk about politics with the press.

Many media were waiting outdoors the jail gates for him, but he got out early, while no one else was there.

When Steenkamp’s mother spoke out on Friday, she said that given that Rodrigues is free, all she hopes is to be able to enjoy her final years “in peace.”

“There will never be truth if the individual who you love is never coming back,” June Steenkamp said. And no amount of time can get Reeva back.”

“Those in you who are still right here have to endure a life sentence.”

Pistorius hit Steenkamp four times with a locked toilet door at his Pretoria home on February 14, 2013.

The lawyers said he killed her because he was mad about a fight on Valentine’s Day, but he has said he didn’t. He said he killed her and her because he believed she was an intruder.

A murder charge or a gun charge linked in the death in Steenkamp were thrown out by Pistorius during the hearing, which was seen around the world.

In 2014, he was initially deemed guilty of murder and given a prison term of five years. That was until a higher court changed the allegations to murder after a year. They gave himself six years in jail for that crime.

They made an appeal as they thought the sentence was too light. In 2017, the South African Supreme Court of Appeal lengthened Pistorius’ sentence to 13 years and 5 months.

By following certain rules, Pistorius will be freed in March 2023, after finishing half of his sentence and being good.

It is aspect of the country’s “restored justice” method that convicts can “acknowledge or bear responsibility for their own actions.”

The DCS says Pistorius will spend the balance of his time in jail in a community setting. A lawyer for the Steenkamp family told Reuters that he will have to take lessons on gender-based abuse along with going to therapy to learn how to control his anger.

That Pistorius must comply with “general parole conditions,” such as being in his residence at certain times of the day, was said by the DCS in a statement made Wednesday.

Besides not being allowed to drink or do drugs, he will be required to go to lessons picked by the parole or jail supervision board.
