HC Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills’ fatal fault
The Buffalo Bills disappointed their fan base once more on Sunday night when they were brutally defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles.
In this manner, head coach Sean McDermott expanded his list of notable defeats to include yet another.
Though it’s not officially off the table, the Bills are currently 6-6, and discussions about the playoffs should wait until they can cash that cheque. Buffalo’s record in one-score games this season is at 2–6, as they lost another one this season.
Nearly every game in the current NFL has close finishes and is characterized by parity. Even in the most exciting games the Bills have to offer, McDermott somehow manages to end up on the losing side despite the league’s best efforts to create artificial excitement.
Hey, players in football are human, and we all make errors; it’s just part of who we are. Since coaches and players will never be flawless, we should allow them a little more wiggle room than they typically get.
Taking McDermott into account, he keeps making the same kinds of mistakes in thought that keep his teams from moving forward.
In regulation, the Bills with a chance to end the game as champions and deny the Eagles another chance to touch the ball.
In my opinion, McDermott coaches those who, in the most important situations, are reluctant, frightened, or scared, whatever term you choose to use.
The Bills’ reasonably aggressive game plan on both ends of the field allowed them to take a 10-point lead into halftime against the Eagles.
This was the team that many had been hoping for all season: an offense that’s able to score enough points to give the defense a chance to play with a lead.
However, a lot of people overlook the fact that the offense has provided the defense with a lead to work with in a number of games this 2023 season, frequently in the latter stages.
The defense sent it in late because the unit has been completed too frequently over the course of 12 weeks.
Whether they are hurt or not, McDermott’s defense can perform better than what they showed the the fourth quarter as well.
It is visible to us. However, worse has also been witnessed, and against much less than the Eagle’s offering.
For Buffalo, this has to be a few of its worst losses of the year. You guys, the Bills got this one. They roasted the eagles.
For Philly to tie the game and force OT, a 60-yard field goal was required. That is not typically the case. It is difficult to attribute that to the bills.
For Buffalo, though, this is more much the same. In one-score games this season, the Bills are 2-6. The bills are wherever they are for this reason. That typically indicates a coaching issue.
It was just that on Sunday night. McDermott made two choices that were illogical in the extreme. You had to try at least with that enormous arm.
It seems illogical to decide not to attempt to move into field goal range without 20 seconds remaining in the game following Philly’s field goal. Though Josh Allen had been little affected by the Eagles’ pass rush all day, he still feared it.
Then, he made a terrible decision to go for a zero blitz inside the red zone against a team that enjoys quarterback draws.
Benjamin Solak of The Ringer explained why that was blatantly incorrect. “Malpractice,” according to Robert Griffin III.
