Harry reveals his worst confrontation with Carlos and Guillermo: “It was terrifying, they screamed and lied”

The three new episodes of the documentary about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have fallen like a bomb on Buckingham Palace. The couple has spoken about media pressure and control of the institution: “We couldn’t send a photo to a friend or go to the doctor, they didn’t give us permission.” Also of the continuous comparisons between Meghan and Kate Middleton, contempt and envy: “When someone who comes from outside and who should be second best steals the spotlight or does the job better than who was born to do it, it upsets and upsets the balance,” said Harry. The situation was so extreme that Meghan thought about suicide and asked for help, but she was not allowed to see a specialist: “They were worried about how the institution would be.”

Harry still blames himself for what happened: “I knew she was suffering, we were both suffering. And when it got to that level I felt angry and ashamed. I didn’t take it too well. He took it as institutional Harry instead of husband Harry. I had been trained to worry about what people are going to think if we don’t go to this event. When I think about it, I hate myself for that.” And he continues: “No one sees what happens behind closed doors. In her time my mother was on her way to engagements crying her eyes out. Sandringham Summit

The situation became untenable and after two frustrated attempts to serve the Crown abroad, they announced their departure. The January 13, 2020, a meeting was called with Carlos, Harry, William and the queen that was known as the Sandringham Summit. Days before, the Sussexes had communicated their decision to dissociate themselves from The Firm and everyone was very angry. That meeting marked a before and after in the family relationship, especially between the brothers: “The saddest thing was the distance that was created between my brother and me. He is in the institution, I partly understand it, it is his inheritance. He has assimilated that part of their responsibility is the survival and continuity of the institution”. However, it was very painful for him: “Guillermo and I grew up seeing what happened in our father’s office, meetings, favors, invitations… We agreed that we would never allow it to happen in ours.”
