After months of speculation, prolific Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane confirmed that he would be staying at his current club for the whole of the 2021/22 Premier League season. The England captain had been subject to a transfer bid from Manchester City but, with Spurs failing to agree to the sum and the terms, Kane stayed put.
It was the news that Tottenham fans had been waiting for but most Spurs supporters fear that the relief may be short lived. The club have endured a mixed start to the new campaign and that’s not an encouraging sign for those who want their key player to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs won their opening three EPL games by identical 1-0 scorelines but their stay at the top of the Premier League table was a brief one. Three subsequent defeats, to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and bitter rivals Arsenal saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s men slip into mid-table.
Harry Kane failed to appear in the first match before coming on as a second half substitute in the win over Wolves. In six league games prior to the second international break of the season, Kane has yet to find the net.
The striker has found his touch in the Europa League and the EFL Cup and, to date, Kane has six goals so far in all competitions. But it’s that failure to score in the league that has hampered Spurs progress and it could yet spell the end for Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane’s thoughts in terms of leaving Spurs relate to his desire to win trophies. He is one of the most potent centre forwards in world football but the player has no silverware to show for all of his goal scoring efforts.
In turn, Tottenham have struggled in the league and few expect the club to finish strongly. Using odds supplied by sbo.net, the best betting sites all list defending champions Manchester City as the clear favourites. Next up are Chelsea, followed by Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Spurs are next and their distant position as sixth favourites suggests there is little hope of the club winning their first top flight title in 60 years. As the league season progresses, those betting markets will change and reflect all of the latest results.
Sbo.net will be quick to update the odds as they develop and they also provide access to other football markets such as the Europa Conference League, the EFL Cup and the FA Cup. Tottenham are involved in each of those tournaments and may have a better chance of winning a knockout competition.
If readers want to get behind Spurs, or anyone else for that matter, the panel of recommended sportsbooks accept new customers and many have exceptional welcome promotions in position. Fast customer service, a choice of funding methods and the possibility of streaming live football are among the other potential advantages.
Tottenham Hotspur will attract some interest here but what will happen if they fail to land any silverware yet again?
He may be here for the remainder of the 2021/22 season but, beyond that, Harry Kane’s future will largely depend on Tottenham’s fortunes this season. At the very least, the striker will be looking to drive his team towards success in either the Europa Conference League or the EFL Cup.
Failing that, a top four finish and a subsequent place in the Champions League for next season might just be enough to persuade the player to stay in North London. Despite that slow start to the new campaign, Kane’s record for club and country is simply prolific.
When domestic football took a break ahead of the second international break, Kane had scored 227 goals in 346 matches for Spurs and will surely finish as their all time leading scorer if he stays.
If no silverware arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the club fails to qualify for the Champions League, Manchester City will surely come calling once again. A player of Harry Kane’s quality has to be playing at the top levels but who will give him that opportunity moving forward?
