Hansi Flick: “We believed in ourselves and it was a fantastic finale”

BARCELONA, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, celebrated the victory over Benfica (4-5) at the Estádio da Luz that gave them a direct pass to the round of 16 of the Champions League, in an “incredible” match with a “fantastic” ending for the interests of his team.

“We always believed in ourselves and the point was already good, but in the end we added 3 and it is better. The ending was fantastic, we got very involved in the second half, we created more opportunities and we ended up scoring and winning,” he said at a press conference after the match.

“It was a crazy game. I think Benfica did very well in the first half, and we made a lot of mistakes. In the first half the result was the opposite, we had to change something in the position to be able to come back, and we did. Coming back is the best thing we did,” he added.

Flick, who assured that he does not live in the past so as not to talk about the bad streak in LaLiga, described the match as “crazy”. “It was something crazy, but a game with a magnificent ending. An incredible game, the team has always surprised this season, they also did it in the Super Cup,” acknowledged the German coach.

“The most important thing is to remember that we need time. In the game we made mistakes but we didn’t have many opportunities to train, between games and recoveries. For the players it is very complicated. We are already in the second round, directly, and it is very good for us have a few weeks without a game,” he said, thinking about the upcoming calendar.

“I’m very happy for the team, in the end we won and now we all have good memories of Lisbon,” Flick joked, after saying in the preview that he had good memories of a fiefdom where, with Bayern, he beat Barça 2-8. .

As for goalkeeper Szczesny, who made two mistakes that turned into contract goals, he defended him “What player doesn’t make mistakes? It’s normal. We lose and win points not just because of one player, we are a team. Sometimes we have to play like in the second half and I liked what I saw, it saved us from some goals,” he commented.
