MADRID 27 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The coach of FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick, evaluated the win (7-1) over Valencia this Sunday in a very positive way in a “perfect match” where he also saw the “hunger to score goals” with rotations, without forgetting that they need more points in League.
“We think that fresh legs are important, it was excellent to see how we started, very concentrated and the goals. It was a perfect match, also because of the players who play less,” Lluís Companys said at a press conference at the Estadi Olímpic.
Flick was asked about many of his players, such as the decision in goal to support Wojciech Szczesny. “We are professionals, this situation is not easy for Iñaki, we decide what is important for the team. If we have to change we will do it, it is about performance,” he stated.
“They are both excellent players and goalkeepers, we decided it together and sometimes it is very even, it is because of a feeling or something similar, it is my job. We decided that Szczesny will play today and it was the right decision,” he added.
Fermín was another proper name at the press conference. “I would like to give more minutes to each player, but it is not always possible. We have some fantastic players in the midfield, but Fermín showed his strong sides, he was present for 90 minutes, attacking and defending,” he confessed.
“It’s good to see that we have players with this quality. We are not doing well in the League and we have to continue on this path. We have to play this way. The fans, the club and the players are happy,” he added.
On the other hand, Flick also praised Ferran Torres and Alejandro Balde, but also asked them for more. “Lewandowski played the second half and scored a goal. I like the hunger to score goals, and it didn’t end with 3-0, it was until the end. I love it. The important thing is the points and at the moment we need more,” he noted.
“Today he could have scored two or three more goals, it was a correct decision that Ferran played as a 9. Balde is a player who needs confidence, his performance is incredible, I think his potential is greater, he can improve,” he added.
The German coach stated that he “wants to have” Eric García and regarding Ansu Fati he assessed his “improvement” without knowing how to say what will happen to his future. Furthermore, Flick revealed what he “loved” about the win over Valencia to remain seven points behind the leader Real Madrid, which was Gavi’s response when he told him to take the field in the 75th minute.
“Today, what impressed me the most was when I spoke with Gavi, I wanted to put him in the last 15 minutes and he told me no, Pablo Torre, you can see that the team, the players, are connected. I love Gavi, it’s top,” he concluded.
