Hansi Flick dismissed as Germany coach

MADRID, 10 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The German Football Federation (DFB, in German) has dismissed this Sunday Hans-Dieter ‘Hansi’ Flick as coach of the senior men’s team, due to “disappointing recent results”, just one year before the German country organizes the next Euro Cup.

“Following a recommendation from DFB President Bernd Neuendorf, the DFB Presidential Board decided to relieve German coach Hansi Flick and his assistants Marcus Sorg and Danny Röhl of their duties with immediate effect,” the Federation reported on its website. .

Bernd Neuendorf himself has been blunt: “The board agreed that the German team needs new impetus after recent disappointing results.” “Looking ahead to next summer’s Euro Cup, we need confidence and optimism in the country regarding our team,” he indicated in this regard.

“This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make during my time in this position because I truly respect Hansi Flick and his assistants, both professionally and personally. For the DFB, sporting success is of utmost importance, therefore That’s why this decision had to be made,” argued Neuendorf.

VÖLLER: “SOMETHING HAD TO CHANGE”

DFB sporting director Rudi Völler also explained the decision. “Hansi Flick has worked incredibly hard over the last few months with his technical team to try to change things after the World Cup in Qatar,” he underlined about the ‘Mannschaft’ background.

“Unfortunately he was not able to do it. The match against Japan clearly demonstrated it,” he alluded to the recent 1-4 defeat against the Japanese. “It’s not an easy time for me; in February I joined the DFB to support Hansi Flick in any way I could, to make him successful on the field. I was firmly convinced that he was able to get our national team back on track “Völler continued.

“However, now we have had to act responsibly and we have made a change in order to be able to play the role we want in our home tournament next summer. That is what the fans here in Germany expect from us. In the game against France it was I will replace, with Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner at my side,” he announced about who will lead the ‘Mannschaft’ in their next friendly.

“Our most urgent task will be to find a new coach who can help give the team new impetus and then prepare it for the Euro 2024. We hope that the tournament can have a positive impact both on German football and on the entire country. We want a coach who can take the national team to the level we know and hope it is at,” Völler concluded.
