Hamilton, disqualified, will start last in Sao Paolo sprint

MADRID, 13 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The English Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) will start last this Saturday in the sprint that will decide the starting grid of the Brazilian Grand Prix, after knowing shortly before his disqualification from Friday’s session.

After a long wait, the seven-time world champion confirmed that the historic eighth title continues to be uphill. A day later, the stewards announced the disqualification of Hamilton, who had achieved the first position for the sprint this Saturday, for a violation of his DRS.

In this way, the Briton, who accumulated another five-place penalty on Sunday’s grid for a change of engine on Friday, will have to start his comeback in the sprint so as not to leave all the work for Sunday’s race in Sao Paolo.

For his part, the leader of the World Championship by 19 points ahead, the Dutchman Max Verstappen, ascends to first place at the start of this afternoon’s sprint. The Red Bull also met a penalty this Saturday, of 50,000 euros, for touching the wing of his greatest rival.
