Hamad Medjedovic wins the Next Gen Finals

MADRID, 2 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Serbian tennis player Hamad Medjedovic was proclaimed new champion of the ATP Next Gen Finals, the tournament that measures the best players under 21 years of age on the men's circuit, by overcoming (3-4(6), 4-1, 4 -2, 3-4(9), 4-1) to Frenchman Arthur Fils.

Medjedovic, world number 110, beat the favorite in Jeddah with an intense and even exchange, without rhythm due to the serve of both. The Serbian also led there, with 18 aces, to win the first final of the tournament that was decided in five sets.

The Balkan, coached by former world number 12 Viktor Troicki and closely followed by number one Novak Djokovic, won three ATP Challenger Tour titles in 2023, reaching the semifinals of Gstaad and Geneva.

Medjedovic adds his name to the prestigious honor roll of the Next Gen ATP Finals, where he goes on to coexist with former champions such as Hyeon Chung (2017), Stefanos Tsitsipas (2018), Jannik Sinner (2019), Carlos Alcaraz (2021) and Brandon Nakashima (2022).
