Haaland plays the distraction

Erling Haaland left a mysterious anecdote at the end of last Wednesday’s match against Greuther Fürth at Signal Iduna Park (3-0). The Norwegian, who had been the main protagonist of the game (he scored two goals), was substituted in the 83rd minute and, despite this, when the referee whistled for the end he returned to the pitch to greet the fans. This is something quite common in Germany, although the forward took it to the extreme, because when his teammates had left the field after the greetings, he was left alone saying goodbye one by one to all the sectors of the field, including the famous ‘yellow wall’.

The morbidity appears when looking at the calendar: it is the last game that Borussia Dortmund is going to play in its stadium in this 2021. In the next meeting of the Germans before their public, the transfer market will already be open for many days, on January 14 against Freiburg (the Bundesliga traditionally stops at Christmas). This gesture by Haaland has triggered the rumors, although Borussia Dortmund slides that there is no option for their player to leave in this winter market. Along these lines, they argue that what Haaland did is say goodbye to the fans because it is the last time he played there before Christmas, not because he had the intention not to do it again. Since he arrived in January 2019, the Norwegian’s numbers are stratospheric: 76 goals and 20 assists in 74 games played.

However, Mino Raiola himself, the player’s representative, fuels rumors about his departure whenever he has a chance. Sooner or later, Haaland is going to change of scene And every time a transfer window approaches, his name is on the agendas of the big clubs. Borussia’s situation is propitious for a great offer to arrive in January, because the player is frustrated after the elimination of the team in the Champions League.

Real Madrid

In that sense, Real Madrid is one of the great interested in hiring the forward, although Ancelotti made it clear a few weeks ago that the white club will not bring reinforcements in January. The intention of the Madrid leaders is to launch for the incorporation of Haaland in the next summer market, although if the player wanted to leave imminently, Madrid would always be open to changing the roadmap …
